Evelyn (Howell) Kane of Bethlehem, PA died October 25, 2025 from complications of Leukemia, which she had battled bravely for 4 ½ years. Born July 2,1943 in Elizabeth, NJ she was the daughter of the late G. Edward Howell and S. Agnes (O'Brien) Howell. She was the loving wife of 55 years to Jack Kane. Evelyn attended St. Rose High School, Belmar, NJ, graduating in 1961. She graduated from Marywood College, Scranton, PA with an AB in Elementary and Special Education in 1965. She taught Special Education in the elementary and middle school levels in Wall Township, NJ and elementary and junior high Special Education in Mountain View, CA. She moved to PA in 1971 and has been a member of Notre Dame Parish, Bethlehem, PA since then.
Survivors: husband- Jack Kane; daughters and sons-in-law- Laura Scholz (spouse Erik) of Adams, MA, Denise Lund (spouse John) of Falmouth, ME, Linda Kane (spouse Kevin Wolford) of Akron, PA, Kimberly Kane of Montclair, NJ, Colleen Laird (spouse Christopher) of Bethlehem, PA; grandchildren- Kathryn and David Scholz, Connor Lund, Terralyn Marsh, Ryland and Isla Giampietro, Cillian and Finley Laird; brothers and sister-in law- Thomas Howell of Federal Way, WA, Edward and Cathi Howell of Marlboro, NH; brother-in-law and sister-in-law- Sam and Bonnie Kane of Woodland Hills, CA and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews and great, great nephews and a great, great niece. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Kim Howell.
A viewing will be held Monday, November 3rd 9:30-10:30AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30AM all in Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church 1861 Catasauqua Rd Bethlehem, PA 18017. Burial will be Private for the family. Downing Funeral Home, Bethlehem, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
