When Someone Dies

If you have just had a death occur in your family the staff at Downing Funeral Home extends our kindness and empathy to you and your family. We have been dedicated to the needs of the families we serve for over 100 years and are committed to exceeding all expectations.

It is our honor to serve and to have your trust. When a family needs a family, we area here. It is our great honor to serve you and to have your trust. We are available 24 hours a day.

When contacting us you will be asked the following information:

  • Name of the deceased
  • Name of the facility and/or address of the place of death
  • Age and/or date of birth
  • Name of the attending physician
  • Name, address and phone number of the next of kin
  • If you are not the next of kin please provide your name and phone number
  • If you are not at home provide the phone number where we can reach you
  • Convenient time, date and place we can meet to talk about the arrangements
  • Permission from you allowing us to embalm
If your call is received by our answering service please allow them to take some information and a licensed funeral director will return your call within 20 minutes.

We will require biographical information about the deceased. You may submit such information by creating an account. Alternatively, we can provide you with a paper form. Such information allows us to accurately complete the death certificate and will help us to draft and submit an obituary.
