Francis J. Figlear, 92, of Bethlehem, passed away December 26, 2024. He was the husband of the late Peggy Ann (Harte). Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Victor and Rose (Keller) Figlear. He earned his undergraduate degree from Moravian College after serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also earned a Master's Degree from Lehigh University. He was a teacher, band director, and coach at Perkiomen School in Pennsburg, PA. Later, he was an instructor and coach at Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT. After returning to Bethlehem in the mid-70's, he began a new career as a Planned Giving Officer at Allentown College and, ultimately, moved on to become a Senior Planned Gift Officer at Lehigh University. He was also a consultant for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Francis was a member of Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church and enjoyed playing the piano. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his son John, John's wife Dana Katalinas, granddaughter Lena Jenne, nieces Barbara Ann Seifert-Sigmon, Kymberly Mize, and Kris Buss, and a nephew, Barry Harte. He was predeceased by his brother George Figlear and sister Loretta Sandt. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
James “Jim” P. Fink, 67, of Bethlehem, passed away July 3, 2023. He was the loving husband to Renne (Bush) Fink. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of Marguerite (Fischer) Fink and the late William “Bill” Fink. Jim served in the U.S. Coast Guard and graduated from Moravian College. He was an entrepreneur, inventing the Master Bow machine. He sold his company to Pioneer Balloon Company over 20 years ago and has since served as President of Pioneer Master Bow Co. He was dedicated to his work and loved his colleagues and his customers. When Jim wasn’t working, he enjoyed watching the Eagles dominate, cooking his favorite dishes, attending to his tomato garden, feeding & watching the birds, and taking time to relax at the beach. Jim had the biggest heart and treasured his time with family and friends, his home always had an “open door policy.” He will forever be missed and always close to our hearts.
Joseph Mauro Dominic Fiore Sr., 86, of Bethlehem, passed away December 31, 2022. Joe was born in Scranton, January 12, 1936, at Mercy Hospital. The first 18 months of life he was raised by the Sisters of St. Joseph Orphanage in Scranton. Joe was adopted by a loving couple, Dominic and Catherine (Molinaro) Fiore, thank you Mom and Dad for all your love and support. Rest in Peace! Joe was raised in the 6th Ward of Allentown and graduated from Allentown High School in 1954. After working at various jobs, Joe started working in the construction trade, eventually becoming a carpenter. In 1967 he joined the Carpenters Union Local 368 Allentown, which later became L.V. Local 167. Joe retired in 1998, a proud union member.
Jane M. Galle Finger, 94, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away Monday June 28, 2021 surrounded by her loving Family. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of Anthony and Helen Thomas Lynch. Jane married her first husband H. Robert Galle, former Bethlehem Police Commissioner, in 1948 and he passed away in 1992. She then married Robert P. Finger in 1996 and he passed away in 2013. Jane was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps while attending Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in Allentown,1945-1948. Her nursing career included a Registered Nurse Overseas Study-Tour of Medical Facilities in Moscow Russia, Acting Director of Nursing for Northampton County Homemakers Service and general and private duty nursing for St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem. Jane was a member of SS Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church in Bethlehem and also St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Hellertown.
Joanne Feigl, 82, of Bethlehem, PA passed away on July 19, quietly, at home. Preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Frank J. Feigl, Joanne will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, and her community.
Doris Wolf Foster, 99, of Bethlehem, passed away on May 21, 2020. She was the loving wife of the late Franklin Preston Foster, to whom she was married for 69 years. Born in Belleville, IL, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Estella (Tribout) Wolf. During WW II, she was a volunteer at the USO and a member of the Girls’ Service Organization. Doris met her husband at a USO dance; they married in 1945 and moved to Long Island, NY, in 1946. In 1991, Doris and Frank moved to Bethlehem, PA, in order to be closer to their grandchildren. She attended Belleville Business College and Dowling College in NY, and worked as a secretary and title searcher in both Belleville and Bay Shore, NY. Later in life she was a volunteer librarian and a Charter Member of the Good Samaritan Hospital Guild. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of America and held leadership positions in both the Bay Shore and Easton chapters. She was an active member of SS Simon and Jude Catholic Church and their Senior Group. Doris was lovingly referred to as Grandma “D” and could always be counted on for Christmas and Easter cookies. She was a painter and a voracious reader. She enjoyed playing Bridge and Scrabble, and also played patient and endless rounds of Candy Land. She was a St. Louis Cardinals fan all of her life. She loved animals and had pets throughout her life (including—in the 1920s—a monkey); her most beloved pets were her last two: her dog Chelsea and her rescue cat Tribout.
Peggy Ann Figlear, 87, of Bethlehem, passed away April 6, 2020 after a long illness. She was the loving wife of Francis J. Figlear for 67 years. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late John and Irene (Smith) Harte. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1950 and attended Moravian College. Peggy Ann served as a Regional Manager for Nutri System Offices. She was also Vice President of Sales and Marketing for ServiceMaster in Bethlehem. She was baptized and confirmed at The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and enjoyed golfing.
Soon Yi “Tina” (Pak) Fletcher, 82, of Coopersburg, passed away March 5, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late William J. Fletcher. Born in Korea, she was the daughter of the late Min Chol and Hi (Kong) Pak. Tina was an avid gardener and will be deeply missed by her family.
