Geza Csahuk, 89, of Bath, passed away August 23, 2015. He was the son of the late Peter and Rosa Csahuk. Geza loved dogs, children, coffee, trains, books and polka music. He loved to dress up with his sweater vests and watches. Geza was known to always have cds in his pockets and sing Christmas carols year round.
Survivors: He will be sadly missed by many friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday 9:30-10:30AM with a service at 10:30AM all in Downing Funeral Home, Inc. 1002 W. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial to follow in Holy Saviour Cemetery.
Shirley Cartwright
Shirley M. Cartwright, 76, of Allentown, passed away June 12, 2015. She was the loving wife of George F. Cartwright for 49 years. Born in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. Morgan and the late Lillian B. (Fuller) Harris and step-daughter of the late Gerald L. Harris. She was a member of the Allentown Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors: Husband- George Cartwright; Son- Jeffrey Cartwright; Daughter- Lisa Cartwright; Sisters- Ginger Smith and Ann Burley; Brother- David Harris.

An Internment Service with Full Military Honors will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery Wednesday, November 4 at 3:00 PM, for James W. and Dolores Caskey of Bethlehem. Those wishing to attend need vehicle transportation, should inform the guards that they are attending a service, and should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the service.
Dolores White Caskey
Civic Activist, Community Leader
Long time Bethlehem resident Dolores White Caskey, 94, a writer, civic activist, and community leader, died March 24th at Moravian Village of Bethlehem.
Mrs. Caskey was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1920. She attended Highlands University in Las Vegas, and taught school in Pecos, N.M. before moving to Texas to work as a civil servant for the Army Air Corps during World War II. She married then Capt. James W. Caskey in 1947. While raising two sons during several of James’ Air Force assignments in South Carolina, Japan, Alabama, England, and Bethlehem, she became actively involved in the civil rights movement, and remained active in politics, at all levels, for the rest of her life.
After moving to Bethlehem permanently in 1968, Mrs. Caskey wrote the newspaper column, Action Line, for the former Bethlehem Globe-Times for 18 years. In 1973 she was elected to Bethlehem’s City Council, where she served for 12 years, four as Council Chairman.
Mrs. Caskey was a tireless advocate and worker for the community, especially its disadvantaged. She was appointed to the Board of Bethlehem’s Public Housing Authority where she served more than 10 years, and was the recipient of various leadership, service, and civil rights awards. Her fluent Spanish language skills and commitment to civil rights enabled her to help build bridges among disparate interests for the betterment of all.
In addition to her own political campaigns, Mrs. Caskey was an active volunteer for many others, and for the Democratic Party. She served as Secretary for the Pennsylvania delegation to the Democratic National Convention in 1980.
Mrs. Caskey lost her husband of 65 years, James, in 2012. The Caskeys were active congregants of Trinity Episcopal Church, and the Diocese of Bethlehem. They served as volunteers in Trinity’s soup kitchen for over 20 years.
Mrs. Caskey is survived by two sons, Robert, of Los Angeles, Calif., David, and spouse Mimi, of University Park, Maryland, stepson Michael, and spouse Kimberly, of Escalon, CA., four grandchildren, Ian, Jerilynn, Christopher, Aurora, and two great grand children, Nicholas and Jackson.
A calling time will be held on Saturday May 23rd 1-2PM with a Memorial Service to follow at 2PM all in Trinity Episcopal Church 44 E. Market St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will be private at a later date. Arrangements care of Downing Funeral Home, Inc.

Rose M. Castagnera
Rose M. (Bohensky) Castagnera, 92, of Bethlehem, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014. She was the wife of the late Natale J. Castagnera. Born in Lansford, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Ana (Hebda) Bohensky. She retired in 1985 from Phoenix- Greif Co. after 28 years of service. Rose was a former member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church. She enjoyed doing ceramics, gardening, playing bingo and loved her birds.
Survivors:
Son- Ronald R. Castagnera of Emmaus; Daughter- Natalie M. Agraz of New Mexico; 4 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 12:30PM in Downing Funeral Home, Inc. 1002 W. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will be private at a later date.

James Carlin
James F. Carlin, 88, of Bethlehem, passed away September 8, 2013. He was the loving husband of the late Doris F. (Keller) Carlin. Born in Landingville, he was the son of the late Francis and Florence Carlin. James served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as a lineman for PP&L for over 30 years before his retirement. James was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church.

Grandsons- Daniel and Timothy
Great Grandson- Jordan

Richard Check
Richard B. Check, 73, of Bethlehem passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Check) Check. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1957 and served his country in the U.S. Army. Richard was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church for over 40 years. He worked for the Bethlehem Area School District as a bus driver for 17 years. He also volunteered his time as a Boy Scout Leader in the Lehigh Valley area for many years.
Survivors: A sister, Frances Clauss of Bethlehem; many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Bacik, Veronica Unger, Joseph Check, William Check; and his beloved dog, Holly.
Services: A viewing will be held in Church, Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. The Downing Funeral Home, Inc., is handling the arrangements. James W. Caskey

James William Caskey, Air Force Officer, Educator. Long-time Bethlehem resident James William Caskey, 91, an Army Air Corps fighter pilot in World War II, retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S Air Force, and the former Director of Financial Aid for Moravian College, died December 21, 2012 in Hospice care at Moravian Village of Bethlehem, where he lived with his wife, Dolores. Mr. Caskey was born in Loveland, OH in 1921, and in 1941 became an Aviation Cadet in the Army Air Corps. After receiving his wings, he flew 101 combat missions in China with the 14th Air Force, or Flying Tigers. His Air Force career lasted 27 years and included combat flying duty in the Korean War, service as a comptroller and academic instructor, as well as flying duty in Europe, North Africa, Central and South America, and throughout out the continental United States. Mr. Caskey received a B.S. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1958, and an M.A. from Lehigh University in 1966, where he headed the U.S. Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment for five years. His decorations included two Distinguished Flying Crosses, the Bronze Star and the Air Medal with oak leaf cluster. Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1968, Mr. Caskey became the Director of Financial Aid at Moravian College, a position he held until 1984. At Moravian, Mr. Caskey worked to increase the opportunities of higher education for traditionally underserved groups. For over 30 years, My Caskey was part of the fellowship of Bill W., where he will be missed by many as both a sponsor and a friend. He died sober. Mr. Caskey served on the Boards of the Pretrial Services Agency, Northampton County Area Community College, Family Counseling Services, Visiting Nurses Association, and New Bethany Ministries. The Caskeys are active congregants of Trinity Episcopal Church, and Mr. Caskey served on the Vestry of St. Andrews and Trinity Episcopal Churches in the Diocese of Bethlehem. The Caskeys served as volunteers in Trinitys soup kitchen for over 20 years. Mr. Caskey was a long time volunteer at Gracedale and for Meals on Wheels. Mr. Caskey was a member of Emery Lodge, FN&AM #258, Loveland, OH, Rotary International, the Military Officers Association of America, and the 14th Air Force Association.
Survivors: Mr. Caskey is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores Caskey, with whom he was active in many political campaigns and various community service endeavors, including efforts to enhance civil rights, and improve public housing and the criminal justice system. Mr. Caskey is also survived by three sons, Michael and spouse, Kimberly, of Escalon, CA, Robert of Los Angeles, CA, and David and spouse, Mimi, of University Park, MD; four grandchildren, Ian, Jerilynn, Christopher, Aurora; and one great-grandchild, Nicholas.
Services: A Memorial service will be announced later. Burial will take place in Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements c/o Downing Funeral Home, Inc.
