Barbara E. Gable, 78, of Allentown, passed away in her residence on Friday, March 21, 2014. She was born in Bethlehem, daughter of the late James E. and Bertha M. (Schreiber). Services: Private services convenience of the family. Downing Funeral Home, Inc assisting with the arrangements.
Anna Giles
Anna Mae (Bristol) Giles, 97, of Bethlehem, passed away March 12, 2014 in Holy Family Manor. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Ichter, and then to the late Frederick Giles. Born September 23, 1916 in Ashley, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (Davis) Bristol. Anna was a graduate of Rutgers University, and a member of the American Association of University Women. She worked as a business administration professional, and then pursued teaching as a substitute teacher. She was also a member of the Muhlenberg Bridge Auxiliary, and of the Cathedral Church of the Nativity. In her later years her needs were attended to by her loving niece, Judi Shaffer.
Anna loved to play bridge with her close friends, and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. However, her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her family, and enjoying the simple pleasures that life has to offer. Her loved ones can take comfort in knowing Anna passed from this world just as she lived her life… peacefully.
Survivors: She will be dearly missed by her Brother- Arthur Bristol of Bethlehem; Sister- Audrey Stair of Bethlehem; Step-Children Frederick Giles of Florida, Susan Giles of Maryland, and Barbara Sato of California; and many Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by siblings- Walter, James, and Albert Bristol and Mabel (Bristol) Morgan.
A viewing will be held on Monday March 17, 2014 from 10 to 11AM with services at 11AM in Downing Funeral Home, 1002 W. Broad St Bethlehem, PA 18018. Interment will be private at a later date in Oaklawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Bernadine Gaydos
Bernadine Anne McGovern Gaydos ,77, of Riegelsville, Pennsylvania, died on Monday March 10, 2014. Bernadine was born in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania on January 24, 1937. Bernie was an accomplished student at Penn State University, where she studied to become a Microbiologist, and a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. It was at Penn State that she met and enjoyed long walks in the rain with her future husband, Dr. Thomas L Gaydos MD. Bernie enjoyed riding, skiing, “Thursday Hikes”, organic gardening, paddle tennis, and time with family. Bernie was known to be selfless, fearless, trusting, and loving. She will be missed by all.
Survivors: Bernadine was predeceased by her father Robert Matthew McGovern Sr., former mayor of Fountain Hill and her mother Sarah Elizabeth Lesher McGovern. She is survived, in addition to her husband, by her son Thomas A Gaydos and his wife Dawn Riedel Gaydos, her daughter Susan Gaydos Barnes and her husband Dan Barnes, her brother Robert M McGovern, Jr. and his wife Brenda, and four grandchildren.

William Guth
William James Guth, 76, passed away New Year’s Day at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem.
Bill was a life-long resident of the Lehigh Valley growing up in Allentown and residing in Bethlehem. He last resided at Moravian House III in Bethlehem and formerly lived on Sioux Street in Bethlehem. He was one of 10 children and served proudly in the United States National Guard. Bill spent 30+ years working at the Bethlehem Steel and after his retirement, he worked for Leh’s Department Store.
Bill will best be remembered as one who enjoyed the Eagles, Phillies, and watching the Iron Pigs play. He also enjoyed visiting large construction sites to watch the engineering. He enjoyed being with his friends while playing pinochle and sitting on the porch. He loved to tell stories and make everyone laugh.
He was a loving husband, a great father, grandfather and a great grandfather, as well as a friend to many.
His honesty, integrity, and inner strength will be passed on to many. He will be sadly missed.
He was predeceased by his wife Joann Herman Guth.

Sons- Daniel Guth of Allentown, William (Billy) Guth, Jr. husband of Mary Bender Guth of Bethlehem and Bruce Guth husband of Kathleen Hite Guth of Herdon, Virginia.

Grandchildren- Michelle Boehm, Justin Guth, Stacey Ubiera, Kerri Lal, Shannon Guth, Sarah Guth, and Nathan and Madison Ensley
Great Grandsons- Elias, Wyatt and Julian
2 Brothers- Thomas and Ronald both of Allentown.
Bill was predeceased by five sisters- Doris, Evelyn, Jean, Roberta and Carol and two brothers- Dale and Robert.
A viewing will be held Monday 6-8PM and Tuesday 10:15-11AM with a Service to follow at 11AM all in Downing Funeral Home, Inc. 1002 W. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial to follow in Cedar Hill Memorial Park.

Joann Gamble
Joann Marie (LoRè) Gamble, 66, of Allentown, passed away Dec 2, 2013. She was the loving wife of 7 years to William J. Gamble. Born in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late William and Carmela (Curella) LoRè. Joann was of the Catholic faith. She taught English as a Second Language for Brentwood School District, Suffolk Community College and at HAO in Allentown. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club in Allentown.

Lauren Grbavac
Lauren Jeane Grbavac, 68 of Hudson, MA died October 12, 2013 in Emerson Hospital. Lauren is remembered for her love of family and dedication to serving others through years of professional social work and volunteerism in the church and community. After the years raising her own family, Lauren could be found caring and playing with her grandchildren, at book club, craft club, shopping, Starbucks and gardening. She was a loyal and trusted friend and will be greatly missed. Survivors: The beloved mother, grandmother and wife of the late Roger Grbavac is survived by her three children, Tim, Amy and Julie; and her four grandchildren, Grace, Lily, Lucas and Veronica. Services: A viewing will be held Thursday, October 17, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Downing Funeral Home, Inc. 1002 West Broad St., Bethlehem. There will be no viewing on Friday, but her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Fred Gould
Fred G. Gould, 90, of Northampton, passed away in the residence of his family on Saturday, June 1, 2013. His wife, Julia passed away September 2004. He was born in Wilkes Barre on September 16, 1922 the son of the late Elizabeth (Yale) and Israel Gould. Fred was a former member of Ss Simon & Jude Church in Bethlehem and the MORA Club. He was a Veteran of WWII serving his country in the branch of the United States Army. He retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a crane operator.
SURVIVORS: Daughters; Julie Kirsten and her husband Martin of Greentown, Gloria Reiss and husband William of Cherryville; son, Fred G. Gould, Jr. and his wife Tammey of Whitehall. Six grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren Fred is predeceased by his sister Alice Carey and a grandson.
SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday June 5 at 10:00am at Ss Simon & Jude Church, 730 W. Broad Street preceded by a viewing in the church from 9:00-10:00am. His interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

Alice B. (Bramley) Grund, 86, of Bethlehem, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 in Sacred Heart Assisted Living in Northampton. She was the loving wife of the late Raymond J. Grund. Born in Shamokin, she was the daughter of the late William and Violet (Gricoskie) Bramley. Alice was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church. She retired from Western Electric.
